Our Services

Meet Dr. Ron Taylor

I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. In college I majored in Spanish Linguistics and minored in Chemistry at Brigham Young University and earned my DDS degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in 1998.

I have performed dental implant surgery since 2003 and I am certified in moderate (conscious) IV Sedation and Invisalign. I also offer same day crowns, same day emergencies, and digital dentures, all of which will improve the dental treatment options available here in Van Zandt County.

"I love the field of dentistry and I strive to continue learning so that I can give my patients the best that dentistry has to offer. My wife, Vicki, and I have 6 kids. We raised our kids in Ketchikan, Alaska. When our kids graduated we were ready to move to the sunshine! I lived in Texas for two years after graduating from high school. I have loved Texas ever since and I am glad to be back!"

  • Headaches
  • Jaw soreness
  • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction
  • Damage to teeth over time

Dental Botox

If you are a good candidate for Botox as a treatment for bruxism, after your initial consultation you can be in and out of the dental office in about an hour for your Botox therapy treatment.

Dr. Taylor will administer injections of the Botox to weaken the masseter and/or temporalis muscles, which can provide you with near-instant relief from your symptoms. Botox therapy lasts between 3 and 6 months at a time on the targeted muscles.

Gummy Smile

To fix a gummy smile, your Dr. Taylor will inject a small amount of the botulinum toxin type A into the muscle between the upper lip and the nose. Unlike surgery and orthodontic treatments, it’s minimally invasive and has no recovery time. It will temporarily fix your gummy smile.

The gummy smile Botox treatment paralyzes the muscle above the upper lip, preventing it from moving too high above the upper gums. When you smile, the upper lip reveals only your teeth.

Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy

What is Tongue-Tie or a Lip-Tie?

A condition in which the band of tissue (lingual frenulum) that tethers the bottom of the tongue’s tip to the floor of the mouth is unusually short, thick, or tight is known as tongue-tie (ankyloglossia). This condition results in limited use of the tongue. Likewise, the piece of tissue behind your upper lip, known as a frenulum, can also be too short, thick, or stiff, which can keep the upper lip from freely moving and is known as a lip-tie. A lip-tie can prevent the upper lip from being curled or from moving normally.

A tongue our lip tie can interfere with breastfeeding and later with speech pathology. It can also cause a gap between the front teeth causing a need for orthodontics.

If treatment is needed, a surgical or laser cut can be made to release either frenulum and is known as a (frenotomy).

Cone Beam Technology (CBT)

Cone beam computed tomography (cone beam CT, or CBCT) is an advanced x-ray that allows clinicians to take a 3D image of the mouth. Unlike a standard dental x-ray, cone beam CT also images the soft tissues of the mouth, including the gums, tongue, and nerves.

Dental cone beam computed tomography is a non-invasive way for dental professionals to get a complete picture of a patient’s mouth. It exposes patients to substantially less radiation than a traditional CT.

Benefits of CBCT

The Benefits of CBCT are:

  • Lower radiation exposure compared to conventional CT scans
  • Higher image quality and greater detail of CBCT images, particularly compared to standard x-rays
  • The 3D image produced by CBCT gives your clinician more information than an x-ray
  • CBCT images both soft tissue and bone, unlike x-rays
  • Faster scan times because everything is scanned in a single rotation
  • CBCT is totally painless and noninvasive

Teeth Whitening

  • Our product safely removes stains caused by foods, beverages, tobacco, medicine and aging.
  • When whitening, you may feel a slight tingling.
  • Our product will not damage existing dental work.
  • Our product will remove stains from existing dental work but will not whiten them beyond their original color.
  • White spots may appear more prevalent directly after whitening, but the contrast will lesson in 24 hours.

Everyone’s teeth respond differently and have their own natural “stop” point for whitening results. Teeth may feel temporary sensitivity, sensitivity is typically minor and gone within 24 hours. You may experience temporary gum irritation, which is more prevalent in patients that have brush abrasion from brushing teeth within 4 hours prior to whitening. Our product offers enamel strengthening qualities.

Ozone Therapy

What is Ozone Therapy?

Ozone is essentially a super-charged form of oxygen with the unique ability to disinfect. This fights off many different types of bacteria that cause periodontal diseases, dental pain, and tooth decay.

Dr. Taylor will use ozone dental therapy when he needs to clean out certain areas of the mouth, especially after extracting an abscessed tooth. This helps prevent a dry socket and reduces the pain that is normally felt after an extraction.

Dental ozone therapy is fast becoming one of the most effective treatment options used in dentistry today. This minimally invasive and conservative approach to oral care can be used to:

  • clear away infections, and cavity-causing bacteria
  • heal gum infections and support bone regeneration
  • reduce tooth sensitivity
Holistic dentists have used this procedure for many years, but it has only recently gained significant attention as bacteria become more and more antibiotic-resistant.

Benefits of Ozone Therapy

Ozone-Therapy
  • Ozone is 1.5 times greater than chloride when used as an antimicrobial agent against bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa. It also has the capacity to stimulate blood circulation and the immune response”
  • Because of this, Ozone can often be used to help treat infections are conventionally treated only physically (through the removal of the biofilm by a dentist or hygienist), or through antibiotics.
  • It can also help disinfect areas of the mouth after a tooth extraction, pre-wash surgical sites , and in other similar procedures.

Ozone has been used very successfully to treat periodontal disease. In this procedure, 3 ozonated water is flushed below the gum line and/or ozone gas infiltrated into the gum tissue and supporting tissue to restore the health to the mouth.

Because of this, Ozone can often be used to help treat infections are conventionally treated only physically (through the removal of the biofilm by a dentist or hygienist), or through antibiotics.

It can also help disinfect areas of the mouth after a tooth extraction, pre-wash surgical sites , and in other similar procedures.

For those with anxiety about dental pain or procedures, ozone therapy can be a fantastic option. It can be used in plaque control, help decrease sensitive tooth necks, and assist in cavity preventions without any invasive tools or discomfort.

Ozone therapy provides a safe and holistic dentistry treatment option for patients who are suffering from a number of oral problems. Dentists are able to remove harmful bacteria without resorting to the use of other products that can have toxic and unhealthy side-effects.

There are numerous other potential benefits to this therapy. It may:

  • improve blood circulation and oxygen delivery to tissues in the area
  • enhance metabolism through improved oxygen delivery
  • activate your immune system
  • induce a feeling of overall wellness

Digital Dentures

There are two types of dentures available on the market today. There is the traditionally made denture that is made of a flesh-colored acrylic base that fits over your gums. The base of the upper denture covers the palate (roof of your mouth), and the lower denture is horseshoe shaped to accommodate the tongue. The newer digital dentures are milled out of a solid block of perfectly cured very hard resin which doesn’t distort as it cures like the conventional dentures can over time. This also helps to make the denture suction better to the inside of the mouth and makes for a much for comfortable feel that the acrylic. The resin that is used is also a much harder material, 8 times to be exact, that is proven to last longer and withstand pressure longer than the traditional acrylic material.

The appointment process is definitely different between the two types of dentures. Traditional dentures require multiple appointments for molds, extractions, fittings and adjustments. With digital dentures it takes 2, maybe 3 appointments if there are any adjustments needed. This makes a huge difference to both the patient and the dentist. The dentist is able to have more chair time available for other patients, and the patient doesn’t have to be spending as much time at the dentist. The patient is also able to have less time with either few teeth, no teeth, or temporary, ill-fitting dentures.

Digital Dentures use a scientifically proven way to record how your teeth should bite together. It finds how far apart your teeth should be, levels out your smile line, places your front teeth in the right spot, and traces out your bite to put your jaw joints into the correct position. It truly takes all the guess work out of making a fantastic set of dentures. By using this process, digital dentures have been proven to be a much more comfortable denture over traditional dentures. When your teeth and jaw are properly lined up, your mouth can’t help but feel comfortable.

The secret behind Digital Denture is that breakthrough software controls the manufacturing process. The machine makes the dentures out of a pre-shrunk, homogenous puck. So you don’t have any shrinkage of stone models and traditional injection molding. The way your impression comes out of the mouth of the patient will be the way the denture is made. In fact, digital dentures don’t need a post palatal seal to compensate for poor fitting surfaces; it fits right the first time.

In the case of the traditional dentures, if a part of the denture gets broken or heaven forbid gets lost, you will have to repeat the process of impressions to have a new set of dentures made. This is not so for digital. With digital dentures they are able to fabricate new dentures almost immediately because the digital file can’t be accidently broken. It will forever be on file and waiting to be used again if needed.
